About us

Tim Egan is a graduate of The University of Connecticut and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business. He founded his building firm in 1994, and over the years has become a respected leader in the restoration and building marketplace.

Personal attention to detail

Because of his personal involvement, Tim puts his reputation on the line with every home he builds or remodels. His experience in the homebuilding and restoration industry speaks for itself, and the homes he builds, restores or remodels stand as testimonials to his well-known dedication and attention to every detail.

A passion for building

As you visit with us on our website, you will see a variety of projects, from historic home restorations, to new home builds, to equine barns and even restaurants. Tim enjoys each and every project he works on but if you ask him about his favorite projects he will probably tell you that he has a special place in his heart for antique and Colonial or low country home restorations.

Tim has assembled a staff of craftsmen with a combined eighty-plus years of experience in building and restoration.

In addition, we are more than happy to work with architects and designers to achieve the home of our customer’s dreams. If you do not currently have an architect or designer, we are more than happy to recommend one of many that we have successfully worked with, for you. You will find our staff courteous, respectful and prompt. Tim believes that a job site should be left in better condition than when his crew arrives and to that end, expects that homeowner’s privacy and property will be respected as if it were his own by his staff and his subcontractors. Tim and his project managers are always available should you have questions, either in person at your job site or via mobile phone or electronic mail.

Thank you for your consideration of our firm and we look forward to hearing about your building project!

Whether it’s an exquisitely detailed mantel, perfectly proportioned kitchen cabinets, beautifully elegant crown molding, or distinctive freestanding cabinets or sink stands, we will work closely with you to ensure that our cabinetmakers interpret your style and taste perfectly.

We are pleased to offer our clients a full cabinetry and woodworking shop, providing the finest custom cabinetry for all of our projects. Our skilled craftsmen can design and manufacture furniture, cabinetry and trim to your exact specifications.

Licensing & Insurance

Most builders offer only liability and workers compensation insurance waiver when working on a building project. As a homeowner, what this means to you is that they are not legally responsible to carry workers compensation insurance. This waiver is legal and while all subcontractors with employees are required to have this insurance, the truth of the matter is that most do not. As a homeowner, if a workman is hurt on your property while performing his job, and the contractor or subcontractor has no insurance, you can be held legally responsible and that could cost you hundreds of thousands of dollars. As a builder of over thirty years in Connecticut, Tim Egan Builders, LLC, carries both liability insurance and workers compensation insurance. This means that if in the unlikely event that one of our workmen gets hurt, you as the homeowner have zero risk or exposure. Be sure to question any contractor or subcontractor that you work with as to what their insurance coverage is before they perform any work for you and ask to have copies of the corresponding paperwork.

Tim holds both a New Home Construction license as well as a Home Remodeling license.

Timothy J. Egan Builders LLC maintains offices in both Litchfield, Connecticut and Charleston, South Carolina.
