In 2007, Tim purchased and began renovation of the historic one-room schoolhouse in Milton. Although he is happy to build new custom homes, the historic schoolhouse represents just the kind of project that he loves. The schoolhouse had sadly been neglected for years. Tim’s vision was to make the schoolhouse into a home featuring two bedrooms, two full luxurious bathrooms, a half bath, a cook’s kitchen and a large great room. The original bead board walls were saved and are featured throughout the home. The original windows, complete with antique glass, were also saved. All new hardwood floors were installed throughout the home. Completely new electrical and plumbing and HVAC were completed. Our cabinetry shop fabricated custom cabinets for the living room and a gas log fireplace was added. The kitchen features a pot filler over the stove as well as a wine cooler. A Pennsylvania bluestone patio was added to the rear of the property outside both the living room and the master bedroom. The bell tower was removed and renovated and the bell, dating from 1848, was returned to the tower and rings today as a testament to the old school. The original millstone where the school children played has been saved and is still present in the front yard. The renovation took eight months to complete. The renovated home has been featured in Connecticut Home Living Magazine as well as other local home magazines in Connecticut and remains a favorite project for Tim and all of his craftsmen.
